Outside back cover image: The review elucidates the recent progress and practical applications of heterojunction surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates in the realm of human health. We classify heterojunctions into two primary categories: semiconductor-semiconductor and semiconductor-metal types, summarizing their respective synthesis approaches and enhancement mechanisms. Furthermore, we provide a detailed introduction to their applications in water pollution detection, food safety, and biomedicine. Given the current context where human health is confronted with challenges and SERS materials are rapidly developing, it is highly valuable to review, summarize, and delineate future directions in this field.
