Deamination of 1-Alkyl-9-aminomethyltriptycenes: Participation of the α-C-H Bond of the 1-Alkyl Group

Abstract Diazotization of 1-alkyl-9-aminomethyltriptycenes (alkyl = methyl and ethyl) in AcOH or CHCl3 gives products derived from participation of an α-C-H bond of the 1-alkyl group. The product distributions strongly depend on the 1-alkyl group and the solvent.
