AlArEt2(THF) as Arylation Reagents for Aldehydes and Ketones

Significance The authors have developed the atom-economical, mixed aluminum reagents AlArEt 2 (THF) for the arylation to both aldehydes and ketones. The resulting secondary and tertiary alcohols were obtained in high yields and enan­tioselectivities. In addition, the aluminum reagents were easily prepared from the reactions of either AlEt 2 Br(THF) with ArMgBr or AlAr 3 (THF) with AlEt 3 (THF).
