This book, the first of its kind, is nearly encyclopedic in its review of the pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) and related syndromes of increased intracranial pressure. The authors review the history of the disorder, possible disease mechanisms, and clinical features, treatments, and experimental studies related to PTC. They propose a new classification system of the PTC syndrome, depending on whether the syndrome is primary, secondary, atypical, or pseudo-PTC. It is an excellent reference for readers who seek a synopsis and bibliography of the extensive literature on the subject. Much has been published on this syndrome without definitive enlightenment as to its cause, and there are currently no prospective studies upon which to base our treatment. …
