Discontinuous process was applied to study the adsorption capacity and mechanism of zeolite to cerium ions, which provided some references to the assessment of disposal effect of high-level liquid wastes and a new technology avenue to the processing of the high-level liquid wastes. The experimental results show that the equilibrium adsorption time of zeolite to cerium ions was about 168 hr.The equilibrium adsorption capacity was about 22.5mg/g and equilibrium adsorption rate and ratio were about 32% and 23.5ml/g under experimental conditions(room temperature, cerium ions concentration:1400mg/l,pH=1.5,proportion of solid-liquid=1∶50),respectively.The equilibrium adsorption capacity decreased while the equilibrium adsorption rate and ratio increased with increasing zeolite's quantity for a given initial concentration of cerium ions.
