AIM: To review the pathophysiology, diagnostic and investigatory approach and treatment for multiple myeloma.
OBJECTIVE: To enumerate the various aspects in relation to multiple myeloma.
BACKGROUND: Mmultiple myeloma is a hematologic malignancy characterized by the clonal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow and, usually, the presence of a monoclonal Ig in the blood and/or urine. It is the second most commonly diagnosed hematologic malignancy with an annual incidence and prevalence in the various parts of the world.
