Geochemical determination of the gypsum requirement of cultivated sodic soils, II. Application to the sodic saline soils of the lower valley of Oued Medjerdah, Tunisia
Geochemical investigations of the use of gypsum in alkalinity control were performed on sodic soils of the lower valley of Oued Medjerdah in Tunisia. The thermodynamic model GYPSOL provided a prediction of the behavior of gypsum applied to irrigated soil. This investigation showed that for these soils a gypsum amendment may be considered for the reclamation of highly saline areas, whereas there was no need for this amendment when the soil was cropped and irrigated.
