Preparative Methods: Bis(tricyclohexylphosphine)(4-polystyrylmethylidene)ruthenium dichloride (PS-Grubbs' catalyst) is commercially available from NovaBiochem.1 It can also be conveniently prepared by shaking Grubbs' catalyst [Cl2(PCy3)2RuCHPh]2 with vinylpolystyrene3 (1–2% cross-linked with divinylbenzene) in dichloromethane solution for 1–2 h, followed by filtration (eq 1).
