This experiment was conducted to examine whether fasting affect ghrelin-immunopositive(ghrelin-ip) cells in the proventriculus in Peking ducks. This is a test-report of ghrelin-ip cells/mm2 in proventriculus from 25,35,50-day-old in Peking duck ad libitum and fasted for 72 hours by immunohistochemistry analysis.Datas showed that many strongly ghrelin-ip cells were observed in the compound tublar glands in the proventriculus whether in the fasting group or in the free feed group in above three periods. The numbers of ghrelin-ip cells/mm2 were significantly increased compared with the free feed group(P0.01).The results demonstrate that feeding status influence the immunopositive ghrelin levels.
