Severe pneumonia is a infectious disease which may progress rapidly and lead to death, and the mortality rate is as high as 30%~50%.The previous treatment only emphasized the use of anti-infective agents but ignored the importance of immune support. Therefore, good prognosis is based on comprehensive support treatments which emphasize the controlling of pathogenic microorganisms and more efforts should be made to regulate patients' immune function.Correct understanding of pathophysiology mechanisms of severe pneumonia, focusing on the target and the regulative and supportive therapy can significantly improve the success rate of the treatable severe pneumonia.
