The compression test is adopted to investigate the electroplastic effect of Al-Cu alloy, while exclude the influence of Joule heating as electrical current pulses applied in compression specimen. It is found that the electroplastic effect occurs during plastic deformation stage. The electroplastic effect can be enhanced with the increase of plastic deformation, which mean that the electroplastic effect can be improved by dislocation multiplication. The electroplastic effect is related to current density threshold for Al-Cu alloy, which is because the the energy barrier of dislocation motion exists during plastic deformation. Therefore, only the first electrical current pulse can enhance the movement of dislocation under some plastic deformation degree.
