Recent Development in the Synthesis of Dimethyl Carbonate by Non-phosgene Methods

Recent development in the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) via non-phosgene routes such as ester-exchange, oxidative carbonylation of methanol as well as the direct synthesis from carbon dioxide and methanol was summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of these synthesis methods were also analysed and compared. Finally, the technologically research direction to synthesize DMC in our country in the future was discussed.
