Monitoring of Adverse Reaction Induced by Cosmetics in 2005

Objective By timely knowing the countrywide situation of the adverse reaction induced by cosmetics,to supervise and promote the cosmetics producers to improve the quality of their products.Methods 13 medical organizations for diagnosing and monitoring skin diseases induced by cosmetics,appointed by the ministry of public health,collected the information of related diseases and the cosmetics used with the unified reporting table.The patch test and other tests taken to some patients followed related national diagnosis criteria and principles.SPSS10.0 was used as the main approach for data statistic.Results A total of 1 053 cases(57 male and 996 female) of the adverse reaction caused by cosmetics were reported during the year 2005,most patients were at age of 20-40.789 cases of 1 053 diagnosed skin damage of irritant contact dermatitis which was most common.About 2 295 cosmetics were suspected to related with adverse reaction.The 1 622 cosmetics were general and accounted for 70.68% of total cosmetics.The cosmetics for special use were 476(20.74%).The patch test and other tests of 1 790 cosmetics were carried out to 711 cases within the 1 053 cases reported,and 596 cosmetics were positive.Conclusion The supervision and examination of cosmetics should be strengthened to prevent and control the adverse reaction induced by cosmetics.
