International Diabetes Federation Position Statement on the 1-hour post-load plasma glucose for the diagnosis of intermediate hyperglycaemia and type 2 diabetes

We appreciate the important comments raised by Dr. Thirunavukkarasu. While we agree that adding other measurements to the 1-h post-load plasma glucose such as fasting and/or 2-hour glucose determinations can further augment the stratification of risk for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and complications of hyperglycemia, the fundamental objective of the International Diabetes Federation Position Statement [1] was to provide practical and economically feasible recommendations that could be implemented globally.
