Progress on coarse woody debris in forest ecosystems

Coarse woody debris(CWD) included the minimum diameter ≥10 cm and the minimum length ≥1 m of logs,snags and large branches,and the minimum diameter ≥10 cm,the minimum length 1 m of stumps,and the root debris,larger than 1 cm in diameter.Competition and natural death,natural interference,human interference were the sources of CWD.In this paper,the research results of the CWD storage in China were statistically analyzed,CWD decomposition and its influencing factors and CWD various ecological service function including nutrition library functions,forest regeneration function,maintain biodiversity function,hydrology and ecology function were specified.
