Progress in Disease Resistance Genes in Vegetable Crops

In response to pathogen attacks, vegetable crops have evolved multiform defense mechanisms, one of them is R gene-mediated resistance response. In this review, current understanding of the cloning strategy of R genes, structure and function of R proteins, R gene distribution, as well as molecule mechanism of R protein / Avirulence protein interaction were summarized. Research prospect of R genes was also discussed.
