other methods are also used to reduce any large mass (greater than 1 cm) of tumor. How- ever, the destruction of small residual tumor masses, such as those inadvertently left behind after surgery, can be best dealt with by immune lymphocytes. Cytotoxic drugs are needed in very large and prolonged doses to remove all tumor cells. The two methods which appear worthy of a controlled clinical trial against selected tumors of domestic animals are to evaluate the effectiveness of DNCB against skin tumors and to investigate the use of BCG as a nonspecific immunotherapeutic method. Any such trial that is undertaken should preferably be done in close coopera- tion with a research laboratory so that a bat- tery of correlative tests can be run to monitor the immune response before and after treat- ment. Such tests will prove useful for future prognosis and as a guide during therapy.
