Objective: To find a better approach for the resection of pharyngeal and parapharyngeal space (PPS) tumors. Methods: 12 cases of pharyngeal and parapharyngeal space tumors were thoroughly resected via mandibular swing approaches. Among the cases, 2 were nasopharyngeal tumors, 5 oropharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal tumors and 5 PPS tumors.3 cases had neck node dissections.3 cases of severe pharyngeal defects were reconstructed. Results: The tumors in the 12 cases were thoroughly resected without obvious functional defects or severe complications. Conclusion: This procedure provides good exposure of pharynx and PPS,facilitating reconstruction. It is safe and leaves minimal morbidity.
