Objective To investigate the inhibition effect of oxymatrine on hepatic fibrosis. Methods The rat models with hepatic fibrosis and liver cirrhosis were established by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4),the changes of structure of hepatocyte were observed by HE staining, and changes of expression of collagenⅠ,Ⅲ and MMP-13 were observed by means of Western Blot. Results HE staining results:the hepatolysis, diffuse necrosis and ballooning degeneration of remained hepatocytes were found in CCl4 group, however, the structure and morphous in oxymatrine intervention group were superior to those in CCl4 group.Western Blot results:the ratio of accumulation OD of collagenⅠ/β-actin and collagen Ⅲ/β-actin in CCl4 group was increased by 53.51% (P0.01) and 59.57% (P0.01),as compared with that in control group, however, the ratio of accumulation OD of MMP-13/β-actin was decreased by 33.53% (P0.01).After treated by oxymatrine, the ratio of accumulation OD of collagenⅠ/β-actin and collagen Ⅲ/β-actin in CCl4 group was decreased by 26.66% (P0.01) and 30.75% (P0.01),as compared with that in control group, however, the ratio of accumulation OD of MMP-13/β-actin was increased by 38.43% (P0.01).Conclusion Oxymatrine can inhibit the process of hepatic fibrosis.
