Objective To investigate the diagnostic significance of the rearrangement of IgH gene in B cell lymphoma. Methods Specimens from 30 cases of B cell lymphoma and 10 cases of reactive hyperplasia(RH) were investigated for IgH gene rearrangements by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)technique. Results the positive amplification of clonal IgH gene in 22 out of 30 samples(73.3%)from B cell lymphoma,Monoclonality of B-lymphocytes wasn't detected in 10 cases of RH and 2 cases of T cell lymphoma. Conclusion The results provide an evidence to support the hypothesis of monoclonal origin of neoplasm. The detection of the clonal rearrangement of IgH gene may be served as a genetic marker to differentiate B cell lymphoma from RH as well as B cell lymphoma from T cell lymphoma.
