The differential thermal analysis (DTA) of miniature cells made with several design variables including separator material, organic solvent, and electrolyte salts were carried out with fresh, discharged, force‐discharged (reversed), and charged cells. The observed thermal transitions were successfully identified by comparing these with the transitions observed in the DTA of cell constituents. The method appears to be a useful tool in studying the thermal runaway process of the cells.
