Biosynthesis inspired asymmetric total synthesis of camptothecin

We developed an improved one-pot Mannich/acylation/Wittig reaction with a novel N -sulfonylated amide catalyst. Using a bioinspired skeletal transformation from indole to quinoline, the asymmetric total synthesis of (20 S )-camptothecin was achieved.
