Objective:To study the differences between the growth behavior of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts(HSF) versus normal skin fibroblasts (NSF).Methods:The fibroblasts were established with digesting method. The cell morphology was observed under optic microscope. The cell growth curves were drawn and the growth rates were determined. Results:The hypertrophic scar fibroblasts with more branches protruding from the cell bodies were bigger than the normal skin fibroblasts. The cell double multiplying time of the hypertrophic scar fibroblasts was 6 dyas, much longer than the normal skin fibroblasts.Whereas the ultimate cell number of the former was 56% of the later. Conclusion:The hypertrophic scar fibroblast is a different phenotype from the normal skin fibroblast.
