Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities in vivo from Osmanthus fragrans Lour.

Objective: To investigate antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities from Osmanthus fragrans Lour.which was extracted by alcohol,and to provide an experimential basis for the further development of this kind of plant.Methods:Forty-eight Wistar mice were given the Ethanol extract of Osmanthus fragrans Lour.intragastrically for 14 days.Each group was injected with hypodermicaly LPS(2mg/kg) after taking the extract last time and anesthetized after 24 hours.Blood was obtained.The serum SOD and NO levels were determined.Results:The extract of Osmanthus fragrans Lour.could degrade serum NO content and enhance SOD activity.Conclusions:Osmanthus fragrans Lour.has obviously effects on antioxidantion and anti-inflammation.
