Annexin B1 as a novel protein for detecting apoptosis

Objective: To provide a novel protein for detecting apoptosis. Methods: Annexin B1 was expressed in E. coli and purified with ion exchange chromatography. Then Annexin B1 labelled with FITC was used to detect the apoptosis of Jurkat cells,which was induced by camptothecin. Results: The FITC labelled Annexin B1 efficiently detected apoptosis with positive fluorescent signal when it bound to phosphatidylserine on apoptotic cell membrane. Conclusion: Annexin B1 may be a novel protein which can be utilized in detecting apoptosis.
