Adsorption Property of Chitosan Towards Aluminium(III)

The adsorption of Al~(3+) onto chitosan(CTS) was studied under static condition.The results showed that the adsorption of Al~(3+) onto chitosan was a fast process with 49 mg·g~(-1) capacity,while the adequate pH was 4 without temperature effect.The adsorption process was in accordance with Langmuir isotherm.The FTIR,XPS analyses of formed Chitosan-Al(Ⅲ) indicate that the adsorption was from the coordination of-NH_(2)groups of chitosan to Al~(3+).The mechanicsm was mainly controlled by chemical monolayer adsorption.
