The factors influencing the denitrifying phosphorus removal characteristics of activated sludge with rich denitrifying phosphorus removal bacteria( DPB) in an anaerobic / Carrousel oxidation ditch were investigated in tests for static anaerobic phosphorus release and denitrifying phosphorus removal. The results indicated that the optimal COD in the influent of municipal wastewater treatment plant was200 mg / L for meeting carbon source demand in anaerobic and anoxic phases. The nitrate concentration in the anaerobic phase should be controlled to be below 10 mg / L,and in the anoxic phase to be around 40mg / L. A favorable water temperature for achieving denitrifying phosphorus removal was 25 ℃. Furthermore,to ensure effective denitrifying phosphorus removal, hydraulic residence time( HRT) in the anoxic phase should be increased to account for a transitional time of 0. 5 to 2 h between anaerobic and anoxic phases.
