Objective: To discuss the effect of endoscopic surgery on otitis media with effusion(OME) owing to adenoid hypertrophy in children.Method: Thirty-seven children suffering from otitis media with effusion owing to adenoid hypertrophy were treated by adenoidectomy and grommet insertion under endoscopy.Result: All children obtained significant hearing improvement,and no case recrudesced after removal of the insertion during a follow-up of 13 to 17 months.Conclusion: The combination of adenoidectomy combined with grommet insertion under endoscopy is safe and effective for children suffering from otitis media with effusion owing to adenoid hypertrophy.
