Report of total knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis of knee joint in 27 cases

Objective To estimate the clinical effective of total knee arthroplasty(TKA) for osteoarthritis of knee joint.Methods Twenty-seven patients(30knees) with osteoarthritis of knee joint were selected for TKA(6 males,21 females).The patients aged from 50 to 76 years(average 63.2 years).Left knee was in 11cases and right knee was 13 cases.Simultaneous bilateral was performed in 3 cases.Results All patients were followed up from 4 to 24 months with the average of 10 months.According to HSS system,the results were excellent in 25 cases(83.3%) and good in 4 cases(13.3%) and fair in 1 case(3.3%),and the excellent and good rate was 96.7%.Conclusion Total knee arthroplasty can release knee pain and improve knee function.The short term effect is satisfactory,but long term follow-up is needed.
