The current status of polymer photostabilization is reviewed with respect to the progress in photostabilizing formulations, optimum molecular weight (MW) for UV stabilizers and their structural improvements, extended uses. Recent new trends in plastics for automobiles (higher temperature processing, the use of easily recyclable plastics and upgrading their durability) seem to require the re-examination of the conventional stabilizer systems to develop better, less volatile, and more permanent UV stabilizers or UV stabilizer systems from a cost/performance point of view.
