SAT-199 Association of Serum Indoxyl Sulfate Levels with Skeletal Muscle Mass and Strength in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients: A 2-Year Longitudinal Analysis
Sarcopenia, characterized by low skeletal muscle mass and poor muscle strength, are highly prevalent in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis (HD). Beyond the well-known risk factors of sarcopenia in non-CKD patients, several preclinical studies had suggested serum indoxyl sulfate (IS) level as an additional risk factor for uremic sarcopenia. This longitudinal follow-up study aims to investigate the association between serum IS levels, muscle mass and strength in a cohort of chronic HD patients.
