Analysis of Sealing Performance of Flange Coupling Based on ABAQUS

Flange coupling is a kind of widely used coupling method.In the practical engineering project,it is proved that the leakage is the main factor of failure flange coupling.In this paper,Finite Element Analysis is used to simulate the interaction among bolts,flange and gasket.The distribution law of contact pressure between flange and gasket is presented.It is referred that the internal pressure of pipes should not be ignored when calculating the sealing of flange coupling.The area between bolts is proved as the weakness area of flange sealing.These conclusions provide importance references to evaluate the sealing performance and improvement of the design of flange coupling.
