Objective:To study the correlation between event-related potentials(ERPs) and therapeutic effects in patients with schizophrenia.Method:16 negative(negative group) and 19 positive schizophrenic patients(positive group),21 other schizophrenic patients(mixed group) and 15 normal controls(control group) were administered auditory ERPs mismatch negativity(MMN)、P300.All the patients were estimated by positive and negative syndrome rating scale(PANSS) at pretreatment and after 8 weeks treatment respectively. Results:The wave amplitudes of MMN and P300 in all of schizophrenia were significantly lower than those of normal controls(all P0.05),The wave amplitudes of MMN in the positive group at T3 and in the negative group at Fz were significantly lower than those at other points, the latent periods of MMN and P300 only in the negative group were distinctly longer than those of control group(P0.05).There were positive correlation between the MMN amplitude at T3 in positive group and PANSS subtractive score rate and between the MMN amplitude at Fz and PANSS subtractive score rate in negative group(r=0.48、0.56,P0.05).In negative group there were negative correlation between the MMN latencies and PANSS subtractive score rate(r=-0.45~0.56,P0.05),and between the P300 latency at Fz and PANSS subtractive score rate(r=-0.52,P0.05).Prompted that the longer latency and the worse effect with the smaller amplitude, and vice versa. Conclusion:ERPs can predict the effects of treatment in some patients with schizophrenia.
