Comparison on the SOD activities of wild ginseng,cultivated ginseng,american ginseng and red ginseng

OBJECTIVE To compare the SOD activities of wild ginseng,cultivated ginseng,american ginseng and red ginseng.METHODS Using Coomassie brilliant blue method to determine the protein concentration,using improved pyrogallol auto-oxidation method and NBT photoreduction method to determine the SOD activity.RESULTS The SOD activity of wild ginseng,cultivated ginseng and american ginseng was 109.642 U·mg-1,16.048 U·mg-1 and 7.612 U·mg-1,respectively.The SOD activitity of red ginseng could not be observed.CONCLUSION Wild ginseng has the highest enzyme activity.
