To study the application of different particle sizes of boron in Mg/polytetrafluoroethene(PTFE) pyrotechnic compositions, four pyrotechnic compositions with different particle sizes of boron were prepared by mixed proceeding and molding technology. The thermal behaviors, combustion performances and safety performances of the pyrotechnics were studied by TG-DTA,infrared thermometer and mechanical sensitivity instrument. The results show that the combustion performance of the pyrotechnics is significantly improved with the addition of boron powder, and in comparison with Mg/PTFE without boron powder, the high temperature exothermic peak temperature of Mg/PTFE with boron powder is decreased by about 80℃.The flame temperature of the pyrotechnics is increased evidently with decrease in the diameter of boron, having a growth of up to 84℃.
