Programmed Cell Death Independent of Caspases

Programmed cell death(PCD) is a specific form of intiative cell death,and caspase plays a decisive role in PCD.The programmed cell death will be divided into two types according to the role of caspase in PCD,caspase-dependent PCD and caspase-independent PCD.Caspase-dependent PCD is typical apoptosis.Caspase-independent PCD including autophagy,paraptosis,mitotic catastrophe,apoptosis-like PCD and necrosis-like PCD.These types of caspase-independent cell death are closely related to physiological and pathological phenomena.
