摘要
Attention is called to the necessity of taking the neutron electric polarizability into account in analysis of experiments determining the mean square charge radius of the neutron. The formalism usually employed in treating particle scattering by a sum of short-range and long-range potentials is used to investigate this problem. It is shown that this effect substantially decreases the error in determination of the neutron-electron interaction amplitude. The information obtained on the neutron electric polarizability is consistent with the value obtained in analysis of slow neutron scattering by /sup 186/W. (AIP)
