Boosted luminescence efficiency and stability of Mn-doped perovskite nanoplatelets via incorporating Cd2+ ions

• In the present work, we conclude its highlights as shown below:. • Highly luminescent Mn-doped L 2 [CsPbBr 3 ]PbBr 4 perovskite nanoplatelets were synthesized via incorporating Cd 2+ ions. • The thermally annealed Mn-doped nanoplatelets exhibited a Cd 2+ concentration-dependent photoluminescence quantum yield, up to 75%. • An enhanced thermal activation energy was observed in Mn:L 2 (CsPbBr 3 )PbBr 4 platelets with Cd 2+ . Mn-doped two-dimensional lead halide perovskites nanoplatelets (NPLs) possess promising application in solid state lighting. The Mn:L 2 [CsPbBr 3 ]PbBr 4 NPLs with corporation of Cd 2+ were prepared via a hot injection method. The photoluminescence (PL) properties the NPLs with different Mn/Pb/Cd molar ratio from 0.5/1/0 to 5/1/3 were investigated by steady-state and time-resolved PL spectroscopy, indicating that the doping efficiency of Mn 2+ can be boosted by adding Cd 2+ to the NPLs. After thermal annealing, the PL quantum yield of Mn 2+ ions reached up to 75%, which is Cd 2+ content dependent. The temperature-dependent PL spectra demonstrated that the thermal activation energies of the NPLs could be increased by incorporating Cd 2+ , meaning that the nonradiative defect/trap states were effectively suppressed. These experimental results suggested the PL properties of Mn:L 2 [CsPbBr 3 ]PbBr 4 NPLs were optimized by adding Cd 2+ ions. The Mn-doped L 2 [CsPbBr 3 ]PbBr 4 nanoplatelets (NPLs) with improved luminescence efficiency and stability were synthesized via a hot injection method. The doping efficiency of Mn 2+ was increased by adding Cd 2+ into the nanoplatelets. After thermal annealing, the NPLs exhibited a Cd 2+ concentration-dependent photoluminescence quantum yield, up to 75%. An enhanced thermal activation energy was observed in the Mn:L 2 [CsPbBr 3 ]PbBr 4 NPLs with Cd 2+ , meaning that nonradiative defects/traps were effectively suppressed.
