Synroc for actinides immobilization

This paper outlines the crystal structure and main properties of zirconolite which is the most durable mineral phase in Synroc. All the actinide elements and their rare earth simulants can be immobilized in zirconolite substantially. The formulation design of actinide bearing zirconolite rich Synroc is discussed.
