A Clinical Observation on the Therapeutic Effect of Houyou Spray on Acute pharyngitis and Acute Attack of chronic pharyngitis

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Houyou Spray (HS) on acute pharyngitis and acute attack of chronic pharyngitis. Methods 82 cases in treating group (TG) were treated simply with HS for two weeks while 34 cases in controlling group (CG) were treated with Xiguashunage spray (XS), also for two weeks. Then, all the cases were reexamined at the fifth and seventh days and one month following the beginning of therapy respectively during the following up period. Results The curative rate is 23. 2% ,significantly effective rate is 22% , effective rate is 45. 1% and ineffective rate is 9. 8% for TG, with a total effective rate of 90. 2%. In contrast, these rates are 0%,8. 8%, 11. 6%and 76.5% respectively for CG, with a total effective rate of 23. 5%. Here, the difference is significant between the two groups(P0. 05) . Conclusion HS is very effective for the treatment of acute pharyngitis and acute attack of chronic pharyngitis.
