Comparison of contents of catalpol and sugars in fresh and dried Rehmannia glutinosa

OBJECTIVE To compare the contents of catalpol,reducing sugar and polysaccharide between fresh and dried Rehmannia glutinosa .METHODS HPLC method for catalpol and spectrometric method for reducing sugar and polysaccharide were used.RESULTS The contents of catalpol,reducing sugar and polysaccharide in fresh Rehmannia glutinosa were about one more time higher than that in dried one.CONCLUSION The differences of contents of three components betweent fresh and dried Rehmannia glutinosa was significant.
