In 1987,H.Sumi discovered and extracted nattokinase,which is a strong fibrinolytic enzyme from the Japanese traditional food-natto.Nattokinase is producted by Bacillus subtils natto in the process of the fermentation of natto which is a fibrinolytic serine protease enzyme.In recent years,many researchers study on the molecular biology of nattokinase,physiological biochemical characteristic,optimization of fermentation technology,purification and development of nattokinase product.Compared with other traditional thrombolytic agents,nattokinase is safer,lower in cost,easier to be absorbed by body and has more persistent effect on thrombosis.So it will develope to be a new thrombolytic agent in the future.
