Evaluation of an Integrated Intervention Preventing Smartphone Dependency Among Chinese Migrant Children

Purpose This study assessed the effectiveness of an integrated school-based social work intervention program, which combined a self-control training course and interactive activities, in alleviating smartphone dependency among Chinese migrant children. Methods A quasi-experimental design was employed, with 222 migrant children were assigned to intervention groups 1, 2, 3, and a control group. Repeated measures ANOVA was conducted to compare the intervention effects. Results Postintervention smartphone dependency significantly decreased in the integrated intervention group ( F = 3.77, p = .01), with sustained effects at the three-month follow-up ( F = 4.154, p = .016). Conclusion The integrated school social work intervention program appears promising in alleviating migrant children's smartphone dependency.
