摘要
We present a method for expanding the eye‐box in retinal projection augmented reality (AR) near‐eye displays using an off‐axis meta‐lens. Retinal projection is capable of maintaining clear virtual images over a broad depth of field; however, the small eye‐box poses a challenge in practical applications. Here, we designed an off‐axis meta‐lens with a working wavelength of 633 nm, a radius of 12.5 µm, and a focal point at coordinates (5, 0, 30) to compensate for the retinal projection's viewpoint. The designed module is positioned anterior to the human eye, and light passing through the off‐axis meta‐lens is focused onto the plane of the pupil. We can also design an off‐axis meta‐lens with a displacement along the y‐axis to achieve two‐dimensional pupil expansion. Finally, using a Gaussian light source within the FDTD (Finite‐Difference Time‐Domain) software, we constructed an ‘H’ pattern as the light source. After passing through the designed off‐axis meta‐lens, the ‘H’ pattern forms an image magnified by a factor of two at twice the focal length, with a horizontal deviation of 10 µm from the center, which meets the design specifications.
