摘要
Polymer nanocomposites have garnered significant attention in the lubricant industry due to their superior properties compared to unmodified polymers. In this research, the magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles was synthesized and subsequently incorporated into castor oil-based polymers at varying concentrations. The resulting nanoparticles and polymer/nanocomposites were characterized using various analytical techniques. Their performance as viscosity index improver, pour point depressant and anti-wear properties were assessed by blending them with a mineral base stock in different proportions. Standard ASTM procedures were employed for these evaluations. The findings revealed that increasing the nanocomposite content in the base stock significantly enhanced the overall performance of the formulated lubricant.
