Effect of Vanadium Content on the Microstructures and Properties of High Speed Steels Containing High Carbon and Vanadium

This paper deals with the microstructures,hardness and heat treatment of the high speed steel containing high carbon and high vanadium.The results indicate there are three kinds of carbide MC, M 6C and M 2C,and the MC is principal in the steel.Adding of vanadium content not only increases the quantity of carbides,but also alters the shape of MC carbides in the steel.
