The development of a scale of life quality for myopia

Objective To describe the development of a scale of life(QOL) quality which measures the quality of life of Chinese patients with myopia and myopic astigmatism and evaluates curative effect of refractive surgery.Methods 22 items were chosen to form a scale.450 preoperative and 365 postoperative myopia and myopic astigmatism patients were measured by the scale to evaluate the validity,reliability and responsiveness of the scale.Results The correlation coefficients of content validity of four subscales were 0.915,0.784,0.628,0.412,P=0.000.Discrimination analysis;t=9. 737,P=0.000.The test-retest reliability of the scale:r=0.717(P=0.000).Chronbach a as 0.863.This correlation coefficient of split-half method was 0.907.The responsiveness:t-test,t=6.943(P=0.000).The effect size statistic was 0.55.Conclusion The Results also demonstrate that the scale has a satisfactory validity,reliability and responsiveness. It is suggested that the scale can be applied in clinical trails.
