Fast Solid‐State Chemistry: Reactions under the Influence of Microwaves

Solid‐state synthesis by microwave irradiation allows the “fascinatingly simple” preparation of crystalline CuInS 2 from the elements. The product is not of “semiconductor quality” and can therefore not be used directly for solar cells. The method, however, which has been established for a long time in solvent and molecular chemistry, should rapidly find wider applications in solid‐state chemistry.
