摘要
Volatile elements play a central role in driving numerous processes within Earth's subduction zones, including the mass transfer of materials from the subducting plate to the overlying mantle, melting of mantle rocks to produce hydrous arc magmas, buoyancy forces controlling magma storage and ascent, and the active and passive outgassing associated with magmatic and eruptive activity. Here, we synthesize major data sets from both magmatic (melt inclusion/glass) and gas records of volatiles in subduction zones to provide an overview of the volatile outputs of arc systems.
