Divisibility by Seven and Thirteen

IN HIS ARTICLE Divisibility and Prime Numbers in the March 1958 issue of THE ARITHMETIC TEACHER, Mr. Paul Yearout states: “The only number less than twelve for which there is no simple rule [of divisibility] is 7. For seven (and also thirteen) there are rules, but they are complicated and take almost as much time as long division.”
